COMPARE:
Vista Social or Buffer for social scheduling
A straight comparison of Vista Social and Buffer for scheduling and managing social posts, answered on the same seven dimensions as every other compare page here. Mamba Labs builds Apify actors. We have nothing of our own in this category, so this page is two products and no pitch.
The short answer
Buffer is the simple scheduler for one brand and a small team. Vista Social is the agency tool with client workspaces, approvals, an inbox and reviews. One brand, Buffer. Several brands, Vista Social.
Side by side
| Vista Social | Buffer | |
|---|---|---|
| What it actually does | Schedules posts across the social networks, runs an inbox for comments and messages, and reports on what worked. | Queues and publishes posts across the main social networks, with a calendar, basic analytics and a comment inbox on paid plans. |
| Coverage and hit rate | Every major network including TikTok, Threads, Pinterest and Google Business, plus reviews, listening and an AI assistant. | The main networks, a landing page tool, an AI assistant and a light engagement inbox. |
| What it costs | Per plan by number of connected profiles and users, with white label and agency features on the higher tiers. | Free for a few channels, then per channel per month, which stays cheap for one brand and grows fast for an agency. |
| How it fits a workflow | Plan in a calendar, approve as a team, publish, then answer in one inbox. Agencies run many client workspaces in one login. | Write once, adjust per network, queue it. It is built for one person or a small team, not for client approvals. |
| Where the data comes from | Your own accounts and their native APIs. What it reports is what the networks expose. | Your own accounts through their native APIs. |
| What it takes to set up | An hour to connect profiles. Approval workflows take longer to set up and are worth it for an agency. | Minutes. It is the easiest tool in this category to be publishing from on the first day. |
| Where it stops | The analytics stop at the network's own numbers. Deep audience research is a different product. | Agencies outgrow it. Client workspaces, approvals and reporting depth are where the bigger tools earn their price. |
The same seven questions are asked on every compare page here, in this order, so two of these pages can be read against each other.
What each is actually better at
- Vista Social wins on what it actually does, coverage and hit rate, how it fits a workflow. A social media scheduler with a unified inbox, reviews and reporting, priced per profile.
- Buffer wins on what it costs, what it takes to set up. The simple scheduler, with a free plan and a clean composer.
- Nobody wins on where the data comes from, where it stops. Vista Social and Buffer give the same answer on those, and we are not going to invent a difference.

What is best for you
If you run one company's accounts, Buffer does the job, its free tier is real, and you will be posting in ten minutes. Vista Social costs more per profile and takes longer to set up, and it pays that back the moment a second client or an approval step appears. Its inbox and review management are the features that turn scheduling into account management. Neither tool makes a post worth reading, and the analytics in both stop at what the networks report.
