COMPARE:

Reply.io or Instantly for a multichannel sequence

Reply.io against Instantly for running a sequence that is not only email, with the same seven questions asked of each and neither one flattered. Mamba Labs builds Apify actors. Clay to Instantly Smartlead Push is ours, it is the third column, and it does not win most of these rows.

The verdict

Reply.io runs email, LinkedIn and calls in one sequence and sells you the contacts too. Instantly does email properly and expects the rest of the stack to exist.

Side by side

Reply.ioInstantlyClay to Instantly Smartlead Push
What it actually doesRuns email, LinkedIn and call steps in one sequence, and can source the contacts for them too.Sends cold email sequences from a pool of mailboxes and keeps those mailboxes warm.Moves a finished list into an Instantly or a Smartlead campaign, with the rules applied on the way in.
Coverage and hit rateEmail, LinkedIn, calls and SMS in one sequence, plus its own B2B contact database.Mailbox pool, warmup network, inbox placement testing and a shared blocklist, in one account. Both senders, one payload shape, and a dry run that returns the exact body without sending it.
What it costsPer user per month for the sequencer, with the data and the AI features priced separately on top.Per plan, with mailbox counts and monthly send volume as the two things that move the price.A cent per lead pushed, and nothing at all for a dry run.
How it fits a workflowA CRM sync, an API and a Chrome extension, so a rep can enrol somebody from a profile page.Campaigns take a CSV or an API push. Replies land in a unified inbox that a human can work.It is the step between the list and the sender, called from Clay or from a script.
Where the data comes fromIts own contact database, or your own list, or a mix of the two.It sends. The lead data is yours, and its own lead marketplace is a separate paid product.Your own rows. It adds no data and reads no provider.
What it takes to set upA few days. The LinkedIn steps need an account connected and warmed before they are safe.Connecting and warming domains is the real work, and it takes two to three weeks before you send.Paste the sender key, map your columns once, run the dry run, then turn it on.
Where it stopsPer seat pricing makes an agency running many clients pay many times over.It is a sender. Deciding who deserves the email is a job you do somewhere else.It does not send anything. Without a sender it has nowhere to put a lead.

The same seven questions are asked on every compare page here, in this order, so two of these pages can be read against each other.

What each is actually better at

  • Reply.io wins on coverage and hit rate, how it fits a workflow. A multichannel sequencer with a contact database and AI reply handling bolted on.
  • Instantly wins on what it takes to set up. A cold email sender with warmup and deliverability tooling in the same product.
  • Clay to Instantly Smartlead Push wins on what it actually does. Pushes a finished, scored list into whichever of the two you already send with.
  • Nobody wins on what it costs, where the data comes from, where it stops. Reply.io and Instantly give the same answer on those, and we are not going to invent a difference.

The honest answer

The multichannel promise is only worth paying for when a person genuinely works the LinkedIn step and the call task. Most teams who buy it end up sending email and letting the other steps expire, and then they are paying per seat for a sequencer when a cheaper one would have done. Be honest about that before you compare features. If the LinkedIn steps are real, Reply.io is the better shape and its own contact database saves you a separate purchase. If you are sending email and nothing else, Instantly costs less, warms your domains and tests placement, and none of that is in the Reply.io price.
