COMPARE:

SMTP2GO or SMTP.com for transactional email

SMTP2GO and SMTP.com both do getting application email into the inbox, and this page puts them on the same seven questions. Mamba Labs builds Apify actors, and neither of these is one of them, so there is no third column on this page.

The verdict

SMTP2GO is the better self serve relay with reporting you can actually read. SMTP.com sells you a person who fixes deliverability when it breaks.

Side by side

SMTP2GOSMTP.com
What it actually doesRelays application email over SMTP or an API and reports on what happened to each message.Relays application and bulk email, with a managed deliverability service attached to the higher tiers.
Coverage and hit rateGlobal sending regions, dedicated IPs on the higher tiers, and full delivery, bounce and spam reporting.SMTP and an API, dedicated IPs, and reputation management run by their own team rather than by you.
What it costsPer month by email volume, with the tier stepping on the monthly count rather than on features.Per month by volume, priced above the self serve relays because the service is part of it.
How it fits a workflowPoint your app at the relay and it sends. The dashboard is where you find out why one did not.Same relay shape as any other. The difference is who you talk to when a domain gets blocked.
Where the data comes fromYour own application's mail. It is a pipe, not a list.Your own application's mail. It is a pipe, not a list.
What it takes to set upUnder an hour to a first send, plus the DNS records, which is the part that actually decides delivery.Slower to start. Onboarding involves a conversation, which is the point of buying it.
Where it stopsTransactional only in spirit. It is not a marketing tool and there is no campaign builder in it.You pay for people. A developer who wants a relay and no relationship is paying for something unused.

The same seven questions are asked on every compare page here, in this order, so two of these pages can be read against each other.

Where each one genuinely wins

  • SMTP2GO wins on coverage and hit rate, how it fits a workflow, what it takes to set up. Transactional email relay with reporting a person can read and support that answers.
  • SMTP.com wins on what it actually does, where the data comes from, where it stops. A long running relay whose selling point is deliverability help from a human.
  • Nobody wins on what it costs. SMTP2GO and SMTP.com give the same answer there, and we are not going to invent a difference.

What is best for you

For almost every application, SMTP2GO is the answer. The reporting is clear, the setup takes an hour, and the price scales sensibly with volume. SMTP.com becomes the right buy in one situation: you send enough that a blocklisting costs real money, and you have nobody in house who knows how to get off one. That is a support contract wearing a relay's clothing, and it is priced accordingly. Whichever you pick, the DNS records decide your delivery far more than the vendor does, and no relay can rescue a domain with a broken DMARC policy.
