COMPARE:
Rise or Deel for paying international contractors
Rise against Deel for paying people who work for you from other countries, with the same seven questions asked of each and neither one flattered. Mamba Labs builds Apify actors. We have nothing of our own in this category, so this page is two products and no pitch.

The verdict
Deel is the broad platform, with employer of record, payroll and HR across many countries. Rise is the focused choice for paying contractors, and the one to pick when people want payment in stablecoins.
Dimension by dimension
| Rise | Deel | |
|---|---|---|
| What it actually does | Pays international contractors and staff, with contracts and compliance handled, in fiat or crypto. | Hires, pays and manages contractors and employees in other countries, including as their legal employer. |
| Coverage and hit rate | Contractor payments and employment through partners, with payout in local currency or digital assets. | Contractors, employer of record, global payroll and HR tools across a very long list of countries. |
| What it costs | Per contractor or employee per month, with the employment tier priced above contractor payments. | Per contractor or employee per month, with employer of record priced well above contractor management. |
| How it fits a workflow | Onboard the worker, sign the contract, approve the invoice and the payment goes out in the currency they chose. | One platform for contracts, payroll, benefits, equipment and HR records. |
| Where the data comes from | Your own team records and contracts. | Your own team records, plus its own entities in the countries where it employs for you. |
| What it takes to set up | A day to start paying contractors. Employment in a new country takes longer. | Days for contractors and longer for employer of record hires, depending on the country. |
| Where it stops | Crypto payout is the distinctive feature. A team that never needs it is choosing on the rest of the product. | It is a large suite. A team paying five contractors uses a small part of what it pays for. |
The same seven questions are asked on every compare page here, in this order, so two of these pages can be read against each other.
What each is actually better at
- Rise wins on what it actually does. Global payroll for contractors and employees, paid in local currency or in stablecoins.
- Deel wins on coverage and hit rate, how it fits a workflow, what it takes to set up. Global payroll, contractor management and employer of record in one large platform.
- Nobody wins on what it costs, where the data comes from, where it stops. Rise and Deel give the same answer on those, and we are not going to invent a difference.
Where to get them
The honest answer
If you are hiring employees abroad, Deel's employer of record coverage is the deciding feature and Rise is not built for that job. If you pay a team of contractors and some of them ask to be paid in crypto, Rise does that natively and keeps the rest simple. Check the fees per payout and the currencies each supports for your actual team. Whatever you choose, have an accountant confirm the contractor classification in each country.
