COMPARE:
Pabbly Connect or Zapier for connecting tools
Pabbly Connect against Zapier for connecting the tools in a go to market stack, with the same seven questions asked of each and neither one flattered. Mamba Labs builds the Apify actors here, Clay to Instantly Smartlead Push included, and the page says where it is the wrong answer.
The short answer
Zapier has the app you need. Pabbly counts fewer of your steps as billable and sells a plan you buy once. Check the catalog first, because a missing app ends the conversation.
Dimension by dimension
| Pabbly Connect | Zapier | Clay to Instantly Smartlead Push | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it actually does | Connects apps in a workflow: a trigger fires, steps run, data moves between systems. | Connects apps in a workflow, with a trigger, steps, and branching where a plan allows it. | Moves a finished list into an Instantly or a Smartlead campaign, with the rules applied on the way in. |
| Coverage and hit rate | Around two thousand apps, which covers the common stack and thins out at the edges. | Several thousand apps, and it is usually the first integration a vendor builds. | Both senders, one payload shape, and a dry run that returns the exact body without sending it. |
| What it costs | Per task, with internal steps such as filters and routers not counted, and a one time plan sold alongside. | Per task, counted on every step that runs, in monthly plans by task volume. | A cent per lead pushed, and nothing at all for a dry run. |
| How it fits a workflow | A linear builder with routers and filters, plus scheduling and webhooks on every plan. | The builder is the product. Tables, interfaces and an AI step now sit in the same account. | It is the step between the list and the sender, called from Clay or from a script. |
| Where the data comes from | It moves data. It holds none of its own. | It moves data. It holds none of its own. | Your own rows. It adds no data and reads no provider. |
| What it takes to set up | Under an hour to a first working workflow. The builder is plain and there is little to learn. | Minutes. It is the easiest of these to get something running in. | Paste the sender key, map your columns once, run the dry run, then turn it on. |
| Where it stops | The app catalog and the depth per app both trail the larger tools, and support is slower. | Task counting makes a busy workflow expensive fast, which is what pushes teams off it. | It does not send anything. Without a sender it has nowhere to put a lead. |
The same seven questions are asked on every compare page here, in this order, so two of these pages can be read against each other.
Where each one genuinely wins
- Pabbly Connect wins on what it costs, what it takes to set up. An automation tool that counts only the steps that do work, and sells a lifetime plan.
- Zapier wins on what it actually does, coverage and hit rate. The largest app to app automation catalog, priced per task.
- Clay to Instantly Smartlead Push wins on how it fits a workflow. Pushes a finished, scored list into whichever of the two you already send with.
- Nobody wins on where the data comes from, where it stops. Pabbly Connect and Zapier give the same answer on those, and we are not going to invent a difference.
Both products
What we would actually do
Look up your least common tool in both catalogs before anything else. If Pabbly has it, Pabbly is substantially cheaper for the same workflows, and the lifetime plan removes a recurring line entirely. If Pabbly does not have it, the price advantage is irrelevant and you are on Zapier. Filters and routers not counting as tasks is a bigger deal than it sounds. A workflow that discards nine triggers in ten costs almost nothing on Pabbly and full price on Zapier.
