COMPARE:
Nutshell or Pipedrive when you need the reporting
Nutshell and Pipedrive both do running a pipeline a manager has to report on, and this page puts them on the same seven questions. Mamba Labs builds Apify actors. We have nothing of our own in this category, so this page is two products and no pitch.
If you only read one part
Pipedrive is the better daily interface and the cleaner pipeline. Nutshell puts the reporting and the marketing email inside the same seat instead of selling them as add ons.
The same questions, both tools
| Nutshell | Pipedrive | |
|---|---|---|
| What it actually does | Runs a deal pipeline with stages, activities and forecasting, and sends marketing email from the same record. | Tracks deals through a pipeline, with activities against each one, and reports on the movement. |
| Coverage and hit rate | Pipelines, activity logging, sequences, forms and a reporting suite that a manager can actually read. | Deals, contacts, activities and forecasting, with marketing and support as add ons rather than hubs. |
| What it costs | Per seat per month in tiers, with the reporting and the automation gated to the higher ones. | Per seat per month in tiers, and the tiers are closer together than the larger platforms. |
| How it fits a workflow | Native email sync, a form builder and an open API, so a lead can arrive without anyone typing it. | A clean API, a decent marketplace, and automation that a sales manager can configure alone. |
| Where the data comes from | Your own pipeline and your own mailbox. It sells no contact data. | Your own records. It sells no database of its own. |
| What it takes to set up | A week to configure properly. Stages, fields and automation all want deciding before anyone works in it. | A day to a working pipeline, because there is less to decide before you start. |
| Where it stops | The interface is dated next to the newer CRMs, and it shows most on mobile. | It is a sales CRM. Marketing, service and content are somebody else's product here. |
The same seven questions are asked on every compare page here, in this order, so two of these pages can be read against each other.
Who wins what
- Nutshell wins on what it actually does, coverage and hit rate, where it stops. A sales CRM with the pipeline, the reporting and the email sending in one seat.
- Pipedrive wins on what it costs. A sales CRM that stays a sales CRM, priced per seat.
- Nobody wins on how it fits a workflow, where the data comes from, what it takes to set up. Nutshell and Pipedrive give the same answer on those, and we are not going to invent a difference.
Where to get them
What we would actually do
Count the add ons before you compare the sticker price. Pipedrive's core seat is cheaper. Then email campaigns, better reporting and lead routing all arrive as separate products, and the real bill is not the one on the pricing page. Nutshell bundles more of that in and looks older doing it. If your team is five reps who will live in the tool all day, the nicer interface is worth something real and Pipedrive wins. If the person choosing is the one who has to produce the monthly numbers, Nutshell gets you there without a second purchase.
