COMPARE:
Emergent or Lovable for building an app from a prompt
Emergent against Lovable for turning a written idea into a working application, with the same seven questions asked of each and neither one flattered. Mamba Labs builds Apify actors, and neither of these is one of them, so there is no third column on this page.

The verdict
Lovable is the faster loop for a web app you want to see and change in minutes. Emergent hands the build to agents that also test and deploy, which suits a bigger app with a backend and a mobile version.
The same questions, both tools
| Emergent | Lovable | |
|---|---|---|
| What it actually does | Builds a full stack application from plain language, with agents that write the code, test it and fix what breaks. | Turns a written description into a working application, then edits it as you describe changes. |
| Coverage and hit rate | Front end, backend, database and mobile apps, with hosting and integrations handled inside the platform. | React and Tailwind on the front, with Supabase, auth, payments and email wired in on request. |
| What it costs | Monthly plans with a credit allowance, so the cost tracks how much agent work a build takes. | Per message credit in monthly plans, so the cost tracks how many edits a build takes. |
| How it fits a workflow | Describe the app, review what the agents built, and keep iterating in chat until it ships. | Chat, a live preview, and a git repository you can take away and run yourself. |
| Where the data comes from | The code the agents write, which you can export or connect to a repository. | The code it writes, which is yours and readable. |
| What it takes to set up | One description to start. Larger apps take several rounds of review. | One prompt. It is running before you have decided what you wanted. |
| Where it stops | Agent runs are slower than a single edit, and a long build spends credits quickly. | It gets a long way in an hour and then needs a developer for the last part. |
The same seven questions are asked on every compare page here, in this order, so two of these pages can be read against each other.
Where each one genuinely wins
- Emergent wins on what it actually does, coverage and hit rate. An agent based app builder that writes, tests and deploys full stack web and mobile apps from a description.
- Lovable wins on what it takes to set up. A prompt to app builder that writes a React front end and wires a backend to it.
- Nobody wins on what it costs, how it fits a workflow, where the data comes from, where it stops. Emergent and Lovable give the same answer on those, and we are not going to invent a difference.
Both products
What we would actually do
For a prototype, a landing page with logic, or an internal tool, Lovable gets you something on screen fastest and the code is easy to take away. For an app with real data, accounts and a mobile client, Emergent's agents do more of the unglamorous work of testing and fixing. That work spends credits, so watch the meter on a long build. Either way, plan for a developer to review the security and the data model before real users arrive.
