The problem

A local business lives or dies on the map pack, and rankings change by street. Searching from your own office shows where you rank for you, not for a customer across town. Agencies selling local SEO need rank by keyword and location, the competitors above them and the change since last month, for every client.

Traditional Search Tools

  • BrightLocal or Local Falcon. Purpose built local rank trackers with grid maps and reports. Solid tools, billed per scan or per location each month.
  • Semrush or Ahrefs position tracking. Strong for organic rank and weaker for the map pack by exact location. Priced as full SEO suites.
  • Search with a location override. Set a location in the browser or use a VPN, search each keyword and write the positions down. Fine for five keywords. Personalization skews what you see.
