Martech companies and the deliverability problem

The problem

Martech companies complicate deliverability, for a reason specific to them. Any deliverability method has to survive this: martech companies run the loudest websites in software, because their own marketing is the product demo. One thing deliverability on martech companies rarely accounts for: their sites carry every tag under the sun, so a tech stack detector returns forty tools and no signal. Traditional Search Tools

  • BuiltWith, for martech companies. Deep history on a noisy stack, and you pay for the depth.
  • MXToolbox. The tool most people already use, and it is genuinely good for one domain at a time. It is a web form, so checking 40 sending domains means 40 visits.
  • Google Postmaster Tools. The only place you see what Gmail thinks of your reputation, and it is free. It covers Gmail, it needs domain verification, and it says nothing about the other half of your list.
  • Your sequencer's own health check. Instantly and Smartlead both ship one. They check the domains you send from, which is the point, and they will not check a domain you have not connected yet.
  • Read the DNS yourself. dig the SPF, DKIM and DMARC records for the sending domain, then check it against the public blocklists one at a time. Fifteen minutes per domain if you know what you are looking at.
