Last updated October 29, 2026

Watch Google News for your company, competitors, people, or topics. One row per article with outlet, date, headline sentiment, and the publisher's own URL and domain. Run it on a schedule to get only articles you have not seen before. No key needed. Clay ready.

Install

bash
npx @mambalabsdev/mcp-news-media-mention-monitor

Every tool here also runs hosted, with no install at all, through Apify's MCP endpoint.

Features

  • Up to 50 search terms per run, with Google News search words such as quotes, OR, and site:.
  • Each news.google.com link turned into the publisher's real URL and domain.
  • Only new articles on a schedule. An article found by two terms comes back once.
  • Headline sentiment from a fixed word list, so the same headline always gets the same label.
  • Pay per event: Article returned at $0.0023.

Input

queriesarrayoptional

1 to 50 company names, brands, people, or topics. Each one is a Google News search. Put a phrase in double quotes for an exact match, for example "Acme Robotics". Google News search words work too, such as OR and site:techcrunch.com.

exclude_termsarrayoptional

Optional, up to 20. An article whose headline or text Google matches with one of these words is left out of every search, for example a person or product that shares your company's name.

since_daysstringoptional

How many days back to search, from 1 to 90. Default 7.

countrystringoptional

The Google News country edition, as a two letter code. Default US.

languagestringoptional

The language code of the edition, for example en, de, fr, es, or pt-419. Default en.

resolve_publisher_urlstringoptional

true (default): each article's news.google.com link is turned into the publisher's own URL and domain. false: faster, and publisher_url stays empty. The price is the same either way.

only_newstringoptional

true (default): an article returned by an earlier run with the same state key is skipped and not charged. false: every matching article is returned, with is_new saying whether it is new.

state_keystringoptional

Optional. A name for this watch list, for example acme-weekly. Runs with the same key share one memory of returned articles. Empty: the key is made from the search terms, country, and language. The memory is kept in a key-value store in your own Apify account.

max_articlesstringoptional

From 1 to 100. Default 50. Newest articles first.

max_charge_usdstringoptional

Optional. The run stops before any charge that would pass this amount and keeps the rows already returned.

On the Apify free plan the actor stops at $1.50 of charges a month, about 652 articles. Any paid Apify plan removes the cap.

Limits

  • Google News returns at most 100 articles per search term, so a very broad term inside a long window is cut at 100. Narrow the term or the window.
  • Google News decides what counts as a match. A short or common name matches unrelated stories; put it in quotes and add a word, or use exclude_terms.
  • The publisher URL comes from a call Google News's own article page makes. Google can change it without notice; when it fails, the row says not_resolved and keeps the Google News link.
  • Sentiment reads the headline only, with a fixed word list. It is a sorting aid, not a judgment of the article.
  • Article text and author are not read. The Mamba Labs Journalist and Media List Builder reads bylines.
