COMPARE:

Plansom or Motion for keeping on top of your work

Plansom against Motion for keeping track of the work you owe people, with the same seven questions asked of each and neither one flattered. Mamba Labs builds Apify actors, and neither of these is one of them, so there is no third column on this page.

The verdict

Plansom finds the work for you, from email, Slack and meetings, and ranks it. Motion takes the work you already listed and fits it into your calendar.

Dimension by dimension

PlansomMotion
What it actually doesCollects the tasks and promises scattered across your email, chat and meetings into one prioritized view.Takes a task list with deadlines and places each task on your calendar, rescheduling when the day changes.
Coverage and hit rateEmail, Slack and meeting notes as sources, with duplicates removed and priorities kept current.Tasks, projects, calendar scheduling and meeting booking for an individual or a team.
What it costsPer user per month, with a trial before you pay.Per user per month, with individual and team plans.
How it fits a workflowConnect the tools you already use and work from its list. There is no task entry step. You enter tasks and their deadlines, and the calendar becomes the plan.
Where the data comes fromYour own email, chat and meetings, read through the connections you grant. The tasks you enter and the calendars you connect.
What it takes to set upUnder an hour to connect the sources, then a week before the list reflects how you actually work.An hour to connect calendars, and a habit change to enter every task into it.
Where it stopsIt finds and ranks work. Scheduling that work onto a calendar is not its focus. It schedules what you give it. Work that never got written down stays off the plan.

The same seven questions are asked on every compare page here, in this order, so two of these pages can be read against each other.

Where each one genuinely wins

  • Plansom wins on what it actually does, how it fits a workflow. An AI planner that finds tasks and commitments in email, Slack and meetings and ranks them in one list.
  • Motion wins on coverage and hit rate, where it stops. An AI calendar that schedules your tasks into the free time between meetings.
  • Nobody wins on what it costs, where the data comes from, what it takes to set up. Plansom and Motion give the same answer on those, and we are not going to invent a difference.

What is best for you

The question is where your tasks get lost. If promises slip because they live in a thread or a meeting nobody wrote up, Plansom solves the capture problem and Motion cannot. If you already keep a good list and the problem is finding time to do it, Motion's scheduling is the better fix. People who are drowning in both problems tend to start with capture, because a perfect schedule of the wrong list helps nobody.
